News: Auto-Rickshaws fueled with Hydrogen

Came across this news from an Indian Magazine and felt good with technology implementation.

A hydrogen-fuel powered auto-rickshaw made its debut at the annual convention of the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers here on Thursday.

The three-wheeler, the product of an alliance between American-Indian business houses forged by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), is one of two such unique vehicles in the world. The conventional combustion engine of the three-wheeler has been converted to use hydrogen as an alternative fuel.

The vehicle boasts of performance levels equal to those of conventional Compressed Natural Gas-fuelled ones. The vehicle is on the roads of Michigan, U.S., and the model is placed at the Bajaj headquarters in India.

It has been touted as a step towards mitigating climate change, and as an example of U.S.-India energy cooperation.

Bajaj Auto Ltd. of Pune and Energy Conversion Devices of Troy, Michigan, worked together to create the vehicle.

INDEPENDENCE DAY

My great nation INDIA celebrates its 58th Indenpendence day (15 AUG 2005)

On this day, I salute all men and women of India who fought for our freedom and sacrificed their lives to achieve our Independence. Seeding a great vision and an indomitable spirit to achieve India’s freedom on 15 AUG 1947.

I pray to the Almighty for Unity of Minds and our success in every aspect of life.

They ask me “who are our role models?” Parents and teachers have to show them by example to live as enlightened citizens. Children also look for role models at national level in different fields. It is now time we create more role models from the present. I suggest that a goodwill and discipline within us can shape the future of our children by becoming good role models.

India’s history stretches back thousands of years, encompassing enormous diversity in culture, creed, and costume. Approximately 950 million people live in its 650,000 villages, speaking 35 different languages. Yet over half of them live in bad living conditions and need help. We take this moment to join hands for a great cause of this wonderful nation to overcome these hurdles.
